Vids from the last month + Development update

So I’ve been slack  recently. Okay, Okay, I know there’s no excuses, but I’ve been trying to get a post up for a while, and the pictures and videos have been banking up… So, here’s a bunch of videos for you guys to enjoy, then I’ll work on getting the pictures up to date as soon as I can.

But first some news: We took the boys for their four month checkup yesterday. This is the big one that you have to go back to the NICU (or close enough) for, and they look for all the issues that are inherent in being a premature baby, and then talk about how to combat those issues. They split them up (one parent with each) and do tests on their reactions, actions, mental capabilities, comprehension, tracking, grabbing, all that sort of stuff. Jack was a bit tired, so spent a good proportion of the tests caterwauling, and Alex managed to drop a bomb whilst supposed to be concentrating on some mental tasks in my lap, but the boys passed all tests with flying colour. In other words, they’re doing really well!!

As in, they mentioned a couple of times that if they didn’t already know they were premature babies, they would think they were normal, full term babies!

We’re obviously very excited by this news. We knew they were doing well, and everyone comments on how healthy they’re looking, but truly to have a professional run some tests and say they’re doing great, that makes us happy. Of course, you never know with kids, but at least the boys are getting a good grounding upon which to base their future development.

Anyhoo, onto some vids… and there’s lots of them! These are in chronological order over the last month, btw.

The boys have been getting into their tummy time recently. Jack deals with it, but Alex LOVES it!

They also have been getting into having a good kick a few times a day, cranking their legs as fast as they can. Funny boys!

Getting some giggles from Big A. Dad acting very silly.

Big A doing tummy time with all the dust mites….

Kick kick kick Alex!

I know, GREAT idea, lets get Alex REALLY excited after he’s had a feed. Dad acting silly again.

REALLY EXCITED! AFTER A FEED!! Hmmm…

Alex, chasing rabbits in his sleep

Normally the boys ride in their stroller in the car seats, but we thought we’d try it out and see if they’re anywhere near big enough to sit in it normally. They’ve got a way to go yet, but they loved it!

Sleeping Alex…

Jackalope… kick kick kick! Exercise time!

Our paediatrician suggested that we could try the boys with some solid food, so we offered up some avocado… Jack’s first attempt:

Alex…

Jack getting ready for a bath. He’s hilarious when you’re undressing him, as he gets a real squint on when he thinks you’re going to pull his shirt over his face. Watch him, he does it several times in this video…

Bath stage 1

Bath stage 2 for Jack
